Live Fish for Ponds

We have live rainbow trout available for stocking ponds in spring and fall each year.

We are open Fridays and Saturdays from 9am – 12pm in spring and fall. Pick-ups are by appointment only.

Adding trout to your pond can be fun for:

  • Catching with your fishing pole
  • Controlling minnows, leeches and bugs
  • Becoming family pets

We recommend your pond be 10+ feet deep, have some natural flora and fauna, and the colder the better. We recommend introducing fish in the spring or fall.

The trout can forage for their own feed, but they put on quite a show jumping at the surface if you throw some feed in too!

How it Works:
  • Make an appointment and pick up your fish on Friday or Saturday mornings.
  • We can loan you a tote (pictured – 5′x3′x2′) that fits in a truck or trailer. It comes with an aerator, battery and fish net. Fish will be okay for up to 2 hours, depending on how many we put in.
  • Unload your fish and return the tote.

* We can also put your fish in special bags for an extra fee ($20/bag for ~8 fish, depending on size and travel distance)

Prices for 2025:
  • 4 – 6″ fish – $2/fish
  • 6 – 8″ fish – $3/fish
  • 8 – 10″ fish – $4/fish
  • 10 – 12″ fish – $5/fish
  • 12 – 14″ fish – $6/fish
  • 14 – 16″ fish – $8/fish
  • Add an 18kg bag of feed for $70.

Not all sizes are always available, so we recommend contacting us to discuss your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

We only have rainbow trout for live fish sales. We aren’t allowed to sell coho salmon or Arctic char for pond stocking, and we have no other species of fish on-site.

We offer delivery on orders over $500 for at $3.50/km one-way from the farm.

We do not do live trout sales during the summer months (July, August and early September) because the water is too warm to transport them safely. For the most successful trout introduction, we recommend getting fish in the spring (late April, May and early June) and the fall (October, early November).

Every pond is different, but here’s our general rule of thumb:

  • If your pond is 6 – 8 feet deep, and
  • The water stays cooler at the bottom
  • Estimate your average width of the pond in feet (if it’s rectangular, take the widest width and the narrowest width, and take an average)
  • We recommend trying one trout for each linear foot across the pond.
  • If you pond is deeper, like 10 – 12 feet, you can double that number!

We recommend taking a bag of fish feed when you’re introducing them, as it helps them adjust to their new environment. If your pond has plenty of minnows and insects, chances are they will hunt for their own food in no time. Feeding them also helps them grow faster if that’s your goal!
